2Labs Advisory
2Labs differs from the software it competes with in three ways: it never charges per user, so adding volunteers or board members costs nothing; it never gates features by tier, so the higher price buys capacity rather than capability; and it handles Canadian rules natively — CRA-compliant receipting, GST/HST on membership dues, the CRA advantage rule, and data hosted in Canadian regions.
Why 2Labs

Three things we do differently, and will not quietly stop doing.

One

We never charge per user.

Per-seat pricing punishes exactly the organizations we built this for. A charity that wants three volunteers in the system, or a club with a nine-person board, should not be financially discouraged from putting the right people in front of the data.

A five-person team on a $44-per-user CRM pays $220 a month. The same team pays $50 here.

Cost of a five-person team, per month
2Labs$50
Pipedrive at $44/user$220
Bloomerang$125+
Keela$134+

What the higher tier buys

Capacity, not capability. More records. Every feature and unlimited users are included at $50 and at $150, and the upgrade is a click rather than a sales call.

Two

We never gate features by tier.

Every customer gets every feature at both prices.

Feature-gating is how software vendors extract more from the customers least able to evaluate what they are missing. It produces the demo-to-disappointment gap that destroys trust in a small sector where everybody talks to each other.

Three

We are Canadian where it actually matters.

Not a maple leaf in the footer. The dominant products in this category are built in the United States and treat Canadian rules as configuration problems.

  • CRA-compliant tax receipts, built in rather than bolted on
  • GST/HST on membership dues handled correctly
  • The CRA advantage rule modelled, not worked around
  • Data hosted in Canadian regions
  • Priced in Canadian dollars
  • French-language capability on the roadmap
Why this is hard to copy

A US vendor can add a receipt template. What is harder is treating CRA rules as the default rather than a regional variation — which changes how gifts, advantage, dues and receipting are modelled at the data layer, not the presentation layer.

And three things we are not

  1. 01

We are not the cheapest possible option

CiviCRM is free and a spreadsheet costs nothing. Those are only free if your time is worthless, and your time is the scarcest thing you have.

  2. 02

    We are not enterprise software

If you need deep configuration, custom objects and an implementation partner, we are the wrong choice and we will tell you so.

  3. 03

We are not a big company

That is a real risk and you should weigh it. What we offer against it is full data export on every product, no lock-in, and source code ownership on every website we build.

See what that costs.
