2Labs Advisory
2Labs Advisory is a Canadian software and advisory company. It builds six low-cost software products for small charities, member organizations and owner-run businesses, all priced at $50 a month for a small organization and $150 for a large one. It also runs a technology advisory practice for not-for-profits, which funds product development and shapes what gets built next.
About 2Labs

A Canadian software company that also gives technology advice — on purpose.

2Labs builds low-cost software for organizations that were priced out of good software: small charities, member-based organizations and owner-run businesses. We also run an advisory practice, and the two are deliberately connected.

What we do

We build and operate six products, all on one platform, all priced the same way: $50 a month for a small organization, $150 for a large one, with unlimited users and every feature at both prices. And we build websites for the same kinds of organizations, handed over so their own staff can maintain them.

Alongside that, we do senior technology advisory work — health checks, fractional CIO engagements, cybersecurity reviews. That practice funds the product development, and it is how we learn what to build. The third time we see the same unmet need in the same kind of organization, that is a product rather than a coincidence.

What we believe

Four convictions that run through every product.

  1. 01

    Solo-operator first

Every feature has to answer one question: does this help one person do the work of a team? Our buyer is a development director who is also the volunteer coordinator. Software that assumes an administrator will configure it before it works is the wrong software for that person.

  2. 02

    Beat the spreadsheet honestly

Our real competitor is rarely Salesforce. It is a spreadsheet, a mailbox and somebody’s memory. We win by remembering what a person would otherwise forget, telling them what has gone quiet, and keeping the history of what was said.

  3. 03

    Canadian-correct where it matters

CRA receipting, the advantage rule, GST/HST, data residency and French-language capability are not localisation checkboxes. They are the reason a Canadian organization picks a Canadian product.

  4. 04

AI as the operating model, not the marketing

We use AI to compress the cost of building and running software — assisted imports, conversational content editing, agent-drafted changes with human approval. That is why a very small team can carry six products, and why we can quote a website at a price a traditional agency cannot match.

The experience behind it

This is not a first attempt at understanding these organizations.

2Labs is built on more than two decades of senior technology leadership across regulators, associations, public-sector organizations, charities and professional bodies — modernization programmes, cloud migrations, cybersecurity oversight, vendor management and executive reporting, in environments where the technology had grown complicated and the priorities were unclear.

That work included the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta, Legal Aid Alberta, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, United Way, the Alberta Teachers Association, the Safety Codes Council, Travel Alberta and ATB, among others. Several of those projects received external recognition, including Microsoft Impact Awards.

The name

Why 2Labs.

The company is named after two Labrador Retrievers, Booker and Friday. They are a useful reminder that good leadership should be loyal, steady, curious, and occasionally willing to retrieve something important from the weeds.
